Rogues and scoundrels of many descriptions are found in every culture, all social strata, and nearly every walk of life, though to call someone such would usually be meant as an insult. Rogues eschew conventional work, and instead get by on their quick wits, quick fingers, or ready charm. Not every thug, guttersnipe, or knave is a true rogue, of course. It is a calling only for the truly exceptional.
A skilled burgler, seductive courtesean, swashbuckling rake, secretive assasin, or clever dealmaker are all rogues in their own way. They are expert at either physical, mental, or social manipulation, or a combination of those.
